Who We Are

The Golden Unicorns is a private fellowship for gay men. The data controller for the website, membership operations, and app experience is The Golden Unicorns Legacy SL.

What We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Identity and contact data such as first name, last name, email address, phone number, city, country, and profile photo.
• Application and profile data such as your story, social handles, interests, biography, membership tier, and other information you choose to share when applying or editing your profile.
• Fellowship activity data such as private messages, chats, Salon posts, event registrations, guest-list participation, reports, moderation records, and notification preferences.
• Oracle and celestial data such as questions you ask the Oracle, saved readings, and—if you choose to provide them—birth date, birth time, birthplace coordinates, and related astrology profile data.
• Device and service data such as device platform, push-notification token, and basic operational logs needed to keep the service secure and functioning.
• Public website analytics such as page views, CTA clicks, apply clicks, session identifiers, anonymous identifiers, page path, and page title.
• Payment metadata such as Stripe customer identifiers, setup-intent or payment references, and subscription history. We do not store full card numbers on the public website.

Sensitive Data and Explicit Consent

Membership of The Golden Unicorns inherently reveals information about your sexual orientation, which is a special category of personal data under the GDPR. We process this data—and any other sensitive information you choose to share in your application, profile, or Oracle readings—only on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you apply and confirmed when you create your account.

You may withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your account or writing to oracle@thegoldenunicorns.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before it.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate and protect the fellowship, including to:

• review applications and decide on membership;
• create and maintain member accounts and profiles;
• deliver the app experience, including Salons, messaging, Oracle features, Gaytherins, and membership administration;
• process subscriptions, setup payment methods, and keep financial records;
• send service messages, direct-message notifications, Oracle broadcasts, and celestial guidance where enabled;
• moderate safety reports, investigate misuse, and enforce fellowship standards;
• understand how the public website is used and improve the journey into the fellowship; and
• comply with legal obligations and protect our members, team, and systems.

Legal Bases

We process personal data on the following bases: the performance of our contract with you (operating your membership, the app, and Gaytherins); your explicit consent (sensitive data, Oracle and celestial features, marketing communications); our legitimate interests (security, moderation, service improvement), balanced against your rights; and compliance with legal obligations (accounting, tax, and lawful requests).

Private Messages, Screens, and Confidential Spaces

Privacy is a founding value of The Golden Unicorns. Direct chat messages in the current app are end-to-end encrypted. Sensitive screens may also use screenshot and screen-recording protections at the operating-system level.

That said, no technical measure is absolute. Privacy here also depends on member conduct. Private messages, member-only spaces, and Gaytherin details are treated as highly confidential, and unauthorised screenshots, recordings, forwarding, or sharing are prohibited by our Terms and Conditions.

Payments

Payments and card setup are handled by third-party payment processors, including Stripe. We may store customer, subscription, and payment-reference metadata needed to operate memberships and maintain lawful accounting records, but not full payment-card numbers.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal data. We may share data only where necessary with trusted service providers that support hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, communications, moderation, payments, or customer support, and only for the purposes of operating the fellowship.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to investigate abuse or safety concerns, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of members and the service.

Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the fellowship, the services you use, legal compliance, accounting, fraud prevention, and safety enforcement.

If you delete your account, we remove your profile, content, and messages from the active service, while retaining only limited records we are legally required to keep, such as billing and transaction history. Billing and transaction records are retained for the periods required by Spanish commercial and tax law.

Your Rights

Where applicable, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to our processing of your personal data, and may request data portability. You may also withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.

Members can delete their account from inside the app, or request deletion by writing to oracle@thegoldenunicorns.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish supervisory authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (www.aepd.es), or with the authority of your country of residence.

International Services

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on safeguards recognised by the GDPR, such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Adults Only

The Golden Unicorns is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly permit minors to create accounts or participate in the fellowship.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or improved practices. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
